Ends a viral alert by alertId (from list_viral_alerts or create_viral_alert). Free. If this alert is what started the profile's tracking and no other active alert of yours needs it, the paid refresh crawls stop as well; tracking you started yourself with track_profile is left untouched. Returns not_found when the alert does not exist or already ended.
The off switch for create_viral_alert: end an alert, and if that alert was the reason the profile was being refreshed, stop paying for those refreshes too. Free and immediate.
Connect the Viral Outliers MCP server once and the delete_viral_alert tool becomes available to your agent alongside all other skills:
claude mcp add --transport http viral-outliers https://viraloutliers.com/api/mcp \
--header "Authorization: Bearer so_live_YOUR_KEY"In Claude.ai or ChatGPT, add a custom connector pointing at https://viraloutliers.com/api/mcp. Your agent then calls delete_viral_alert on its own whenever the task needs it.
| Name | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
alertId* | string | Alert id to end (query ?alertId= or JSON body). |
Given an alertId it marks the alert ended (reason deleted). Hits already collected are not emailed. When the alert had started the profile's tracking, and none of your other active alerts watch the same profile, the tracking row is deactivated so no further refresh crawls are charged. A tracking row you created yourself with track_profile is never touched by this call; use untrack_profile for that.
Use it when the campaign is over, when the recipient asked to stop (they can also use the stop link in any alert email), or to free a slot when you hit the 25 active alerts limit. Alerts also end on their own after three emails or at expiry, so deleting is only needed to stop one early.
This skill is free and never spends credits.
Only when the alert started them. If create_viral_alert began tracking the profile for you and no other active alert needs it, the refresh crawls stop with the alert. Tracking you set up yourself with track_profile keeps running until you untrack it.
Yes. Every alert email has a stop link that ends that alert on one click, no API key needed. delete_viral_alert is the same action from the agent side.
The call returns not_found. Nothing is charged, so it is safe to call defensively during cleanup.
Also available as a REST API endpoint.
